The Cohiba Coronas Especiales is a distinguished cigar within the Cohiba brand, renowned for its unique blend and exquisite craftsmanship. Initially created for Fidel Castro in 1966, these cigars were exclusively for diplomatic gifts and were not available to the public until 1982. The Coronas Especiales is part of the Línea Clásica line, one of the original three sizes introduced when Cohiba was first offered to the general public.
Cohiba, meaning "tobacco" in the language of the Taino Indians, was named after the first form of tobacco Columbus encountered in Cuba. The Coronas Especiales, along with the Lanceros and Panetelas, were among the first sizes to be commercially released by Cohiba, establishing its reputation as a premium cigar brand
