COHIBA LANCEROS CIGAR

The Cohiba Lanceros is one of the most iconic cigars from the Cohiba brand, renowned for its elegance and rich history. Originally created in 1964, the Lancero was Fidel Castro's personal favorite and was used primarily as diplomatic gifts before being made available to the public in 1982.

The Cohiba Lanceros was initially rolled by a local artisan named Eduardo Rivera. Rivera's cigars caught the attention of Castro's bodyguard, who introduced them to the Cuban leader. Impressed by the quality, Castro commissioned Rivera to produce these cigars exclusively for him. The Cohiba brand was named after the Taino word for tobacco, reflecting its deep roots in Cuban history.

In the early years, the Cohiba Lanceros were produced at the top-secret El Laguito factory, which was originally a grand mansion before being converted into a cigar production facility. This factory remains one of the most prestigious in Cuba, known for its high standards and skilled rollers.

It wasn't until 1982 that Cohiba cigars, including the Lanceros, were made available to the public. This decision was part of an effort to capitalize on the growing international demand for premium Cuban cigars. The public release included three original sizes: Lanceros, Coronas Especiales, and Panetelas. The Lanceros quickly gained a reputation for its superb quality and unique flavor profile.
